The exact building time is uncertain but the first datable historical signs date back to the first half of the 19th century, when it was a classic country mansion with attached stables for horses, barns and fountains. Remodeled over and over again by the various owners who, in addition to living there, also reclaimed the surrounding area originally annexed to the river and therefore of a marshy nature.
During the flood of the Tiber in 1937, the building was completely flooded. The old tower collapsed and was abandoned until the construction of the artificial basin called Lago di Alviano (now WWF Oasis) in 1963.
From there a slow recovery until the second half of the 21st century, when it was bought by a self-styled "magician" who made it his "sanctuary" and operational centre.
It was used as headquarters by the Germans in WWII… and then abandoned.
